Jack Lenox

“To have driven the launch of a student newspaper is a fantastic achievement. Jack’s entrepreneurial spirit really impressed us, and we think he’ll go a long way. People who show his drive and vision are hard to come by.”
Andy Pipes, Development Producer of channel4.com
Jack has been designing websites since his first year at secondary school in the midst of the dot-com boom.
Having designed a number of commercial websites for small businesses, he set up a small computer business during sixth form, building and selling computers on the internet and through eBay.
During a gap year between school and university, he set up a browser-based online game which experienced some success as a project during the time it ran.
On arrival at Royal Holloway, he felt that the College was lacking a good publication to properly serve students. He therefore went about setting up a newspaper and by November had founded The Founder, the independent student newspaper of Royal Holloway, University of London. The Founder’s inaugural issue was published on Friday 8 December 2006 and the newspaper has now been running as a fortnightly publication for over two years. Jack has led the design of every issue so far as well as produced a dynamic news website. The Founder receives no funding from the College or the Students’ Union and so Jack and the team have also had to build a revenue stream from advertising local businesses to fund the publication.
Now nearing the start of his final year at Royal Holloway, Jack has created Bold Media as an avenue through which he can formally apply his skills and expertise to other projects.
